A Brave New Sunrise
*** IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ ***

With the arrival of Blood Bowl Second Season (BB2020) and the changes to the rules, particularly the rosters/players, the WAFFL site is in the process of being updated to the new rules. This process will take a few weeks to be ready for team and league creation. Once things are ready to go, we will advise all our coaches.

Regarding the existing WAFFL teams, after reviewing our options it was decided that all existing teams created under the previous rule set (BB2016) will be permanently retired. With the changes to most team rosters and the advancement system, there would have been a great deal of difficulty in manually adjusting all our active teams. We will soon commence the retirement process and will endeavour to have it completed by 20th January 2021.

Yes, we acknowledge it is a sad time as we wave goodbye to our BB2016 teams, BUT now you will be able to create a new team under the new rules and you can use an old team name if you like. This reset is an opportunity to write new stories, shove those old bad teams down the memory hole, and create new WAFFL legends!

May Nuffle Bless Your Dice

Stand In Coach Option!
So, you need a stand in coach because real life has interfered with your particularly important Blood Bowl life. Did you know that you can have a secondary coach added to your team on the WAFFL site?

Indeed, you can nominate a second WAFFL coach to have access to the team on the site so that they can print match record sheets, etc for any game that needs them to stand in for you. Just contact your league commissioner to add the nominated coach to your team and once the arrangement is no longer required, ask the commissioner to remove the secondary coach.

Just remember, don’t nominate frostie as a secondary coach – it will undoubtedly lead to the destruction of your team!

Update about the future of the site
Hi Folks,

We have received the following message from the owner/creator of the site we use for the WAFFL about the leaked BB2020 rules and the site's future:
"Just to make things clear: Of course I plan on implementing the coming rules in code. So the new Pa-characteristic, the new upgrade selection procedure and so on will be part of the site. At the moment let's wait and see how much of the leakes ruleset will be comfirmed, before I start changing anything."

So, I take it as a good sign about the future of the site and the implementation of the BB2020 ruleset once released. We will update you further once more information is available but for now its just Blood Bowl and Chill until BB2020 drops in our laps.

WCL Season 7 Revival
Hello Coaches,

We hope you and your families are all safe and healthy during these challenging times.

With the announcement that WA is changing our restriction level down to Level 3 as of tomorrow (27th April 2020), the WAFFL Triumvirate are looking to get the defibrillation machine out and revive West Coast League Season 7.

As we are living in extraordinary times, we are going to allow a 2-week review period for coaches to make an informed decision as to whether their teams will be coming back to WCL Season 7. Please refer to the WA Government website for the latest update about the easing of restrictions
[https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/depar... and consider if you would like to roll dice on the pitch once again. There is a poll at the league's Facebook group:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/WAFFLWes... where you can indicate whether you will or will not be coming back to WCL Season 7. The poll will be open for 2 weeks or until such time all Season 7 coaches have responded, whichever comes sooner.

So what is the plan for the rest of Season 7?
After the 2-week review period, we will rework the draw with the teams that are returning and then allow a week for the remainder of round 5 games to be completed. After that we will recommence with the usual fortnight per round schedule. This will allow us to complete all 8 regular season rounds and the 2 play-off rounds by 22nd July 2020. The revised schedule will not impact the plans for Season 8 and allow us to get back to some normality and prevent any impact to the first season of 2021.

Please note that things may change in the future if the state or federal governments change the restriction levels, although we would like to hope that things only get better from here and we can all return to our normal lives.

Regards

COVID-19 Update
Apologies for the late update about the Wu Flu and its impact on WAFFL and our supported leagues.

All our leagues have suspended their current seasons until such time the restrictions regarding social distancing, etc are lifted and we can get back to tabletop gaming. The league commissioners will make their own announcements about the restart at the appropriate time.

The current seasons will be left open to allow for easy re-start of leagues. Please note games will not be approved until leagues are officially back in business.

If you still need a Blood Bowl fix then get online and have a crack at Blood Bowl II or FUMBBL. Also, it's a good time to paint your teams and build those Blood Bowl related projects.

Also, this past weekend saw the NAF hold their first online replacement tournament on FUMBBL and will be holding events for the competitive Blood Bowlers fairly regularly on that platform.

So, stay safe coaches and even in these times there are ways to get your Blood Bowl fix!

Also, if you havent received the email, please let me know and I will resend it to you.

Ogre Team Update
Hello Coaches,

The Ogre team has been updated with the latest roster changes from SPIKE! Journal Issue 8.

The Runt player type has been changed to Gnoblar with the requisite changes to Skills. The Runt Punter has been added and the restriction for number of Ogres has been changed from 0-6 to 0-5.

Most of the existing Ogre teams are unaffected, although the few with 6 ogres on their rosters all need to resolve downtime so the numbers of ogres will be fixed during the redraft phase of downtime.

Also, the Star Player list has been updated with the addition of Bob Bifford (Golden Era Star Player).

Any questions - let us know!

The future of WAFFL
A NEW POWER RISES IN THE WEST
The state of play of the Western Australia Fantasy Football League (WAFFL)

The latter half of 2019 saw the announcement of the WAFFL Admin, Nath “Ratt” Gall, stepping away from the hobby and leaving WAFFL in the hands of others. Firstly, I would acknowledge the HUGE amount of work Ratt did to keep Blood Bowl alive here in Perth and his incredible enthusiasm for the game over such a long period. Kudos to you Mr Gall!

Now we look to the future and keep the banner of WAFFL raised high. Three individuals have taken on the task of keeping the WAFFL alive and thriving, the three who shall be known as the WAFFL Triumvirate are Michael “Watto” Watson, Brendan “Bruno” Schuts and Duro “frostie” Bozic.

Michael will be the new WAFFL Admin. His role will be to the oversee the running of the WAFFL, upkeep of the WAFFL HQ website and maintain impartial oversight of any issues between commissioners and/or coaches – fair to say, if a situation needs to be escalated to the WAFFL Admin for resolution then we have escalated to the nuclear option.

Duro will be the new Head Commissioner, who will be responsible for the day-to-day activities on the WAFFL league management site and will also help league commissioners and coaches with the site.

The new post of Commissioner of Compliance will be the responsibility of Brendan. This role will entail general assistance for any WAFFL needs and acting as WAFFL Disciplinarian (wielder of the Big Stick). Brendan is also the NAF representative for Western Australia, the main man for all things NAF!

With 2020 soon upon us, there was a review of the state of WAFFL by the Triumvirate and what the future of WAFFL will look like.

The most significant change for WAFFL will be the introduction of an annual registration fee for all active coaches on the site. For those not in the know, the WAFFL league management site is based on a platform created by AROS and hosted on their server. AROS charge an annual fee for use of their platform and server. In the past this fee was paid by Ratt himself and sometimes with the help of donations by generous WAFFL benefactors. We felt this burden upon one or a few individuals is inherently unfair and should be shared by all of us who benefit from use of the WAFFL site. The annual registration fee will be AUD$5 per coach. The money collected from this fee will cover the cost of the site and will also be used to pay for winner’s medals for all leagues managed on the WAFFL site.

When a coach pays the annual registration fee, they gain the following:
- Access to the WAFFL site and the ability to participate in as many leagues as available on the site for the year of registration;
- They can claim a $5 discount from the entry fee for a single WAFFL affiliated Blood Bowl event (e.g. WA Open, Far From Albany Cup, Sunday Slaughter and any others that are announced in the future) during the year the coach is registered.

The annual registration fee will be due 15th January of each year, beginning 15th January 2020. Payment can be made via PayPal or Direct Debit – please contact Duro for these details. Any coach already on the site will have their account switched to suspended after the due date of the fee and only switched to active once the fee has been paid. Each coach will be contacted about the annual registration fee in the near future.

With the ongoing releases by GW throughout the year, the decision has been made that the WAFFL site will be updated twice a year with the most current version of rosters and star players. This decision was made to minimise the impact on current leagues that updating at the time of the GW release would create. The updates will occur mid-year (around 30th June) and at the end of the year (around 31st December).

We are currently in the process of switching ownership of the WAFFL HQ site and the website will be updated as soon as possible. We will also be adding a Living WAFFL FAQ to the website as a resource for our coaches to answer some of the questions that seem to pop up on a regular basis.

Each year there will be several WAFFL affiliated events/tournaments held in our great state, either in Perth or in other parts of the state. At this stage, the core WAFFL events/tournaments are:
- WA Open (Perth)
- Far From Albany Cup (Wokalup)
- Sunday Slaughter (Perth)
- Western Australia Super Series (various locations)

Other supplementary events/tournaments may be added in the future and announcements will be made in due course.

There you have it, WAFFL continues forward and Blood Bowl in WA continues to grow and be awesome!

Regards
WAFFL Triumvirate

Site Update
Please be advised the team rosters and star player list has been updated to bring them in line with the GW Blood Bowl Head Coaches Handbook Roster pdf and NAF Tournament Pack 2020.

Notable Changes:
- CRP star players not approved in BB2016 have been switched to Legacy (noted in the player's name field) and no longer available for inducements. These legacy star players can be used if league/commissioners deem appropriate.
- Bretonnian Peasant renamed Bretonnian Lineman
- Norse Runner renamed Norse Catcher
- Star Player lists for some teams have seen significant changes so please check the Team Reference section of the site to familiarise yourself with them.

West Coast League & Special Play Decks
Some housekeeping for the West Coast League.

We have had the issue of the special play decks not being used for games after agreement between both coaches raised multiple times over the last few seasons and we hereby announce the official West Coast League stance about the issue.

If both coaches agree to not using the Special Play decks, then the Special Play decks are not available for the game. Should either coach state they wish to use the Special Play decks, the Special Play decks must be used for the game, as per standard rules.

This will be added to the future seasons players packs and is official as of Tuesday 23rd April 2019.

West Coast League Season 4 Announced
Nuffle be praised!

The League Commissioners are pleased to announce that West Coast League Season 4 will soon be upon us. The day of joy is 1st July 2018 and by the end of November 2018 we shall know which team has clubbed its way to the championship!

This season will see the introduction of new house rules to keep things a little spicy and to keep things somewhat balanced. Although, I am sure local celebrity Coach Whinge will find something new to complain about before, during and after the season 😉

The season will consist of regular season of 8 rounds and a finals series. Each round of the regular season and the final series will be two weeks long and based on past experiences the league tends to run at a fast and furious pace.

West Coast League Season Four is open for registration for new teams. All returning teams will need to complete their redraft before registering for Season Four.

If you require a new team to be set up on the WAFFL site for the league please contact the Commissioners on the WAFFL Facebook group or via the email in the attached poster.

The rules for the league and the season now available in the League Rules section of the site.

West Coast League Season 4 coming soon!
Season 4 of the West Coast League will commence on July 14. As per usual the season will consist of eight rounds, with two weeks for each round.

The stadium rules from season 3 have been shelved, much to the relief of some I am sure, and in their place we have some other interesting additions to keep the coaches and fans entertained.

So, steel yourselves and prepare your teams for glory or infamy. Registration will start next month and further announcements about Season 4 will be made soon.

WAFFL CUP - MAY 20
That's right, the first ever WAFFL Cup will be held on May 20. Originally tagged as a two day event, due to ill health, and other contributing factors, the first ever WAFFL Cup has been changed from a two day event to a one day event.

It will be held on Sunday May 20 at the I'd Crit That club (formerly known as Northern Gamers) in Noranda. It will be three games, and a full player's pack should be posted by next week at the latest.

Find info on the WAFFL Cup on Facebook:

In 2019, the WAFFL Cup will move to a two day format that it should have been from this year.

Trophies available this year will be: Champion, Most Touchdowns, Most Casualties, MVP and Best Presented.

Coaches, West Coast League is proud to announce Season 3 is open for registration. So please add your team to the league on the WAFFL site and prepare your rectum for some Nuffle lovin!

The answers to these questions and more will be revealed by the end of the season!

FYI, the league rules for Season 3 are on the WAFFL site in the League Rules section. It is important that you read the league rules and be sure you are able to commit to league as we want as many games played with the minimum fuss as possible this season :)

West Coast League Announcement.
After the recent allegations of blatant cheating and other undisclosed corruption being made against the Savage Sloths, the League Commission was compelled to launch an immediate investigation. After the revelation of damning evidence against the Sloths, the League Commission has been forced to expel the Savage Sloths from the West Coast League.

In an effort to minimise the disruption to the league schedule, a local team from the minors has been promoted into the vacant spot. The League Commission would like to welcome Triumvirate to the league and may Nuffle have mercy on their dark and corrupted souls.
---
Fake news out of the way, Ratt is stepping away from the League for personal reasons and the Commissioners will be running a ringer Chaos team to ensure minimal disruption to the league.

Many thanks to Ratt for all his efforts in making WAFFL and WCL what it is today.

Deathzone Season 2
Deathzone Season 2 came out today, and I managed to get my hands on a copy - for Commissioner Purposes only.

I have now added the three new players to the database, 2 new Goblins, and the Chaos Renegades get the addition of an Orc. I think all three will add some fun to the league.

There is also a plethora of new rules, some optional, which I will be going through soon. I also took the opportunity to fill out my Special Play decks, and think that they will add some really fun things to our games.

I am also working on something behind the scenes - a bit of a surprise, that I will hopefully have ready to go by this time next week. Discussions need to be had, and then I will post in all the *ahem* glory that it is...

Until then, Good luck with your Finals!

Bastard Sevens S2 Draw
I'm having issues putting the matches into the system for some reason, I will attempt to figure it out over the weekend. But in the meantime, I was kind enough to put the draw on crit.boards.net for you to all have a look. I do have a ringer team in the system at the moment - so if you know someone who want to play, I'll swap them in for the Chaos No Stars.

But on to the draw, here's the link:

B@stard Sevens: Season 2
Just a reminder that Season 2 kicks off on the 12th, just four days from now. I will be accepting entries until 6pm on the 11th of January.

Remembering that it is only one game per month, with a six game season (this includes finals). All teams will get six games even if they do not make the finals.

I will add a ringer team if required.

The draw will be conducted at approx 8pm on the 11th of January, and entered ASAP, allowing kick off on time on the 12th.

The draw has now been done, and entered into the system for Season 1 of the WCL.

We've split the teams into four divisions, with the leader of each division qualifying for the finals.

BB2016 Update
This morning I have gone through the players types and adjusted where I can. There are still a few players that are out - Norse Runner is still a Norse Runner instead of a Norse Catcher (Can't change that one it seems), whilst others like the Chaos Renegade team are listed as * Renegade instead of Renegade * Lineman and the such.

Another example is the Minotaur. As it is on both the Chaos Dwarf and Chaos Renegade teams, a change to the Enslaved Minotaur changes both. I could create a new player, but as there is currently six Chaos Renegade teams, I would then have to add skill ups to each team. Again, I don't get paid enough to do that.

So at this stage we are about as BB2016 as we are going to get without a complete reset.

WAFFL season announcements
It has been decided by the Commissioner group that due to all leagues operating in the Perth region only being a maximum of 2 seasons old, that the re-draft system will be used between every season now before the new season starts. For all in-progress leagues, the "expensive mistake" mechanic will not be adopted until the next season starts. Therefore it is recommended that if you want to keep your team resembling something like what you have at the moment, build up your treasury and score those TD's and cause that Cas so you have as much money available to you as possible for the re-draft. The 2 in-progress leagues are the WAFFL Open in season 2 and the Chaos Cup in season 1.

Also be aware that with the WAFFL Open that the 'Downtime' rule will come into effect for those players that have competed in both seasons and may feel it is time to hang up the boots.

W.C.L. S: 1 & Blood Bowl 2016
What a big week for Blood Bowl in Perth. In less than 12 hours, Blood Bowl will again be available to buy in a GW store, with what has been dubbed 'Blood Bowl 2016 edition'. It has some interesting between season rules that we may or may not apply to some of the league's here.

And talking of Leagues, the West Coast League is due to begin Season 1 in early January. This gives us all a little over a month to get used to any changes in the rules, and then fire up the league.

Welcoming new, existing and old players of all skill levels, just get in touch with one of the commissioners!

B@stard 7's Season 2
B@stard 7's Season 2 is due to kick off on January 12, the season will be open for entry soon. However, there will be a few new rules, which will be added to the B@stard 7's rules soon. But I just wanted to post them up here, as we will be collecting information for one of the new rules at Caso Barato on November 20th.

First of all, with the new release of the Blood Bowl box, there will be some rules changes, in particular, some rules for between seasons. From what I have heard, these appeal to my commissioner side, and most will be included in the B@stard 7's rules, but will be reviewed after I have gotten the new rules.

The most exciting thing we will be doing is adding some Star Players to the B@stard 7's roster. However, these will not be the Star Players from the book - they will be Star Players added from Caso Barato events. Players will be required to fill out a match report sheet that will include everything needed for the event. After the event, I will go through the match report sheets and find the three best performing players from the event, and then getting in touch with the coaches who played them.

As a reward, they will also draw one further skill card, from the bonus deck, specifically for that player. I will then confirm the players and add them to a specially designed B*stard 7's site that will include Star Players available for hire (including a picture of the original model if possible).

These players will only be available to B@stard 7's teams, and will be added every time we hold a Caso Barato.

WAFFL Open Finals Closing In
Good Afternoon WAFFL Coaches!

This is just a quick shout out to remind you all that as at 6pm 25th of April, no more matches will be allowed to be played for the WAFFL Open as we begin preperations for the finals day on May 22nd to be held in Northern Gamers in Noranda.

Finals Day will be three games long (if you do that well), consisting of quarter finals, semi finals and the grand final.

I have begun to compile the list, and we will have a few countbacks, which is why we need that extra time. It also allows people time to plan, hopefully for some of the Albany Boys to come up to Perth (looks like we'll be needing at least one, anyway!).

So get your last games in, and give me enough time to compile the list of who made the finals, then get in touch with the coaches.

On that note, I will be using the email you have registered here - so keep an eye out for an email from ratt.waffl@outlook.com if you think you made the finals - it'll be coming soon after the 25th!

WAFFL Open Finals - 22nd May
First of all, I would like to say a big thankyou for everyone who got involved in the WAFFL Open for the first season. It has been fun to watch the teams progress, and great to see people organise a couple of games on the same day. I hope more people get involved in Season 2, or the remains of Season 1, as there is still time left.

I am now in a position to announce the time and location for the WAFFL Open Finals for Season One. The cut off for minor rounds will be Monday the 25th of April (ANZAC Day). Any game in the system that has not been played by this date will be deleted, so there is still quite a bit of time left.

From here, we will work out the finalists, who will be invited to play in the finals on Sunday the 22nd of May. The location is Northern Gamers, situated in the Main Hall of Robert Thompson Reserve, Weatherill Way, Noranda. Entry fees will apply, so make sure you bring your $2. As the finalists confirm their attendance, we will update the post.

There will be quarter finals, semi finals and then the grand final and third place playoff. This means you will have the potential to play three games on the one day (so it might be advantageous to bring a couple of copies of your team roster).

I will be speaking to the person responsible for opening Northern Gamers, and trying to extend the hours to that there will be time enough for the games. But there are drinks available, as well as food options across the road, which include two supermarkets and various take away options.

Season 2 will officially launch on the 1st of June, so there will be a small gap between seasons, and we are currently looking at options for divisions based on team value, although this may be more of a season 3 offering, we don’t know just yet. Also, Season 2 finals are scheduled to be held in Albany in 2017 – so a road trip worth looking forward to. There will be more information coming, please be sure to check back.

Kind Regards,
Ratt

WAFFL Open & B*stard 7's
Well, the WAFFL Open has officially opened. So, who will be the first to play? Coaches now have the ability to create their own games (but they must be involved in the game to do so), but still need a Commissioner to Approve the match.

And the first season of WAFFL's B*stard 7's is set for action from the 12th of July. With only a few teams registered, and an easy one game per month schedule, this should be brutal. There's still time to sign up, with Ratt accepting registrations until the 7th.

Hope to see you on the pitch soon.
