Roos don’t Rata the rats
The Old World Classic Kangaroos have delivered their most violent performance of the season after playing Hijos De Rata in their round 4 win.

It was the second time playing De Rata in team history and the Roos were out to make it a better performance than their first encounter and showed that from the very first block, causing a casualty straight away.

With a strong start, the Roos kept up the power blocking and basically ground De Rata into the ground as much as possible, leaving only 1 rat on the pitch before scoring their first TD.

De Rata were able to get a few players back on the pitch for the second half. And they went about trying to exact some revenge, getting a few casualties of their own.

As they tried to make a break and score a levelling TD, the Roos were able to sweep across and stop the break. Again De Rata weren’t going to just throw in the towel and harried the Roos continually as the Roos slowly moved the ball down the field.

Just before the final sounded, the Roos scored their second TD, to go with the 7 casualties they caused, it was a strong victory. It wasn’t all plain sailing though and the Roos will be missing a couple Blitzers in their next match.

Roos get the Blork out
The Old World Classic Kangaroos matched up in the third round against The Blorks in the classic blood bowl match up of Humans Vs Orcs.

The match started with the Roos receiving and they got off to a handy start by KO’ing a Big’Un early and soon had blitzer off the pitch as well. But it wasn’t long before The Blorks started to hit back and got a few KO’s of their own.

With their numbers now reduced, the Roos took advantage of the good field position they’d worked for and get the early TD.

With a few players coming back, the Roos set up for defence and decided to take a conservative approach. Chief spent most of the rest of the half Boneheaded, but with some persistent pressure onto the ball, they were able to force some mistakes from The Blorks which gave them the opportunity to sack the ball carrier, retrieve the ball and stop The Blorks from equalising.

In the second half, the Roos were a little less coverage from the set up, but played patiently waiting for an opportunity to strike.

The opportunity did come, but they fell over in the process and were unable to strike. They did create enough of a road block though that The Blorks had to retreat a little.

A stumble from The Blorks while retreating to set up a cage left enough of an opening for the Roos to strike again, and this time they made it count, knocking the ball free, then scooping it up and throwing it further into the backfield, setting up a chase for the ball.

As the teams tired, it became a scrappy chase, but eventually the Roos were able to pick it up and get the extra TD right on the siren to seal a 2-0 victory.

Fortune favours the Roos
The Old World Classic Kangaroos have narrowly survived a scare to scrape out a win in overtime against an experienced Frogs of Fortune team coached by one of the Kangaroos coach’s oldest rivals.

After some pre-season banter got the coaches at each other, an unofficial challenge was issued and eventually came true when the draw was released. It set the stage for a tough match.

The Frogs were first to receive, and despite the Roos Blitzing off the initial kickoff, the Frogs found themselves stunning plenty of Roos players early to get themselves in a semi comfortable position near the end zone.

Daring to take the risk and run the clock a bit, it nearly proved to be the downfall of the Frogs who soon found the ball turned over, bouncing into the crowd and ending up back near the halfway.

The Roos tried their best to get themselves into a position to stop any chance of a Frogs TD, but their experience and determination saw them get the go ahead TD eventually.

The Roos looked to use the final dying moments before the half to try for a OTTD, but a failed catch saw the moment end before it even really began.

Into the second half, it was the Frogs who got the Blitz from the kickoff and immediately put the pressure onto the Roos, one failed dodge and suddenly the Frogs had knocked the ball free, however some desperate scrambling and a fortunate bounce followed by some safe hands, saw the Roos regain control of the ball.

With ball in hand, they eventually got enough of a gap to push hard downfield, and after a failed Rush from a Frogs Blitzer, they were able to head deep into the backfield and hold out until the end of the game to score moments before the siren and level the game.

From here, the coach of the Frogs saw enough players come back from the Knock Out bin to convince him he’d be in with a fighting chance in overtime, so he accept to play overtime, demanding a result from the game.

Despite receiving in overtime, the Frogs weren’t able to do much more than stun a few Roos players, whilst they got on a roll with their blocking and started to remove Frogs players with ease.

It wasn’t long before the Roos turned the ball over and were again deep in the backfield. With very few Frogs players on the pitch, the Roos became a little overconfident and decided to try for a bonus pass, but a failed catch had the fail on the ground and the Frogs soon marked up on the fall to do their best to try force a draw.

Thankfully for the Roos, they had the right player in position to have a chance to win as the Thrower used his Sure Hands to collect the ball and run in the winning TD.

Kangaroos Ram it home
The Old World Classic Kangaroos have exacted some revenge on the team which inflicted their first loss upon them. In a Grudge Match instigated by the Roos coach saw the team which finished the regular season of WCL S16 in first place (Old World Classic Kangaroos) against the eventual champion of the WCL S16 season (Rusty Rams).

Being a Grudge Match, it was up to the Rams coach to select an Emissary of Enmity for the match, with the Rams selecting a Legendary Lineman skilled in stabbing.

From here, it was time for a couple of players to be Blessed by the Gods, which saw a Chaos Warrior from the Rams gain the Big Hand mutation and Iron Hard Skin. Then from the Roos, the Ogre gained the Foul Appearance mutation and a Prehensile Tail.

With the Rams deciding to receive, that match began with much anticipation, and the Rams made a steady move down the pitch and in turn 2, had the Emissary of Enmity run onto the pitch to join them.

As the half progressed and each team saw the allegiance of the Emissary change, it became a careful consideration of where to get him to go so that he wouldn’t Stab you unexpectedly, only once was he left in a position to Stab an opponent, but he duly failed.

As the half progressed, the Roos were able to keep the Rams in a stalled position and soon the slightest opening appeared for a strike on the ball carrier. It was all the opening the Roos needed, with a quick strike to knock the ball free and a bold and fast dash from a nearby catcher which allowed the Roos to score the opening TD of the season and take the early lead and finish the half 1-0.

As the second half started, the Roos received and managed to get the Rams to over commit to the first side they feinted towards, then use their speed to shift completely to the other side of the pitch before going in for the 2-0 lead.

Knowing their time was running out, the Rams were in a hurry to try score, and despite a deep kick off, were able push hard and get their first TD to close the gap and give themselves a chance at tying up the game.

The Roos made a deep push with the ball into the backfield of the Rams, but were soon caught and unable to cover the ball. The Rams then pushed for the unimaginable play to level the game, unfortunately for them, an inaccurate pass led to them being unable to get the final TD.

The Roos finished the game with the 2-1 win and enjoyed the pleasure of beating the reigning champions.

Kangaroos sink into Hellpit
The Old World Classic Kangaroos faced off against the Hellpit Abominations in the WCL Championship Semi Final in their latest match.

After getting through their quarter final relatively unscathed and also being less experienced, they had a bit of petty cash available and decided to hire some Mercenaries to help their cause.

With a large numbers advantage leading into the game, the Kangaroos were confident they could compete.

As the game commenced, it was the Abominations who received and they got off on a tear, injuring Kangaroos players with ease in the early phase of the game.

The Kangaroos were soon well and truly on the back foot and were barely able to harry the ball carry with the numbers dwindling. As the half was coming to a close, the Kangaroos only had 3 players left on the pitch, but were determined to make it known that they weren’t giving up. With a dashing blitz, they were able to knock the ball free from the grasps of the Gutter Runner with the ball, collect it themselves and then hold onto it until the half ended.

As the second half kicked off, the Kangaroos were able to get a number of their players back to be even with the Abominations. They put themselves in a position to make a bit of a break with the ball if they were able to free up their thrower, however unable to get him free, he tried to do it himself and subsequently found himself knocked down from the attempt.

The Abominations used their agility to quickly scoop up the ball and get the TD they should have scored in the first half.

The Kangaroos weren’t about to give up and quickly got into motion again to give themselves a chance to level the game, but the experience and determination of the Abominations was obvious and they kept making it as hard as they could for the Kangaroos to break away out get the ball.

In the final moments the Kangaroos were able to make a break, but as they pushed hard for the endzone, they tripped up and fell short of any chance of levelling the game and taking the game into overtime.

The Kangaroos lost the match 1-0 and took a bit of a beating along the way. They will head into the 3rd Place Final against the Slavers Bay Raiders looking to finish their rookie season on a high.

Kangaroos cause Car crashes
The Old World Classic Kangaroos managed to finish the regular season in first place after their last round opponent forfeited the match, which left them facing the Car Yard Pharaohs, who finished the season in 8th place , in a quarter final match.

Both teams came in with very similar experience as they are both rookie teams this season, so the incidents were light on, with only a weather mage being taken by the Pharaohs.

The match started off with the Kangaroos receiving and an Officious Ref trying to take control from the outset, thankfully he wasn’t too overzealous and the Kangaroos didn’t lose a Blitzer from the outset.

It wasn’t to deter the Kangaroos though as they went about a fairly centralised offence to begin with. Once they saw the Pharaohs concentrating on one side a little more, they pushed down the other, and with some strong blocking, they were able to start removing a few of the Pharaohs’ players from the pitch.

In a comfortable position, the Kangaroos stalled for the rest of the half and bashed as much as they could, scoring just before half time. But all their bashing didn’t help much come the second half, as all the knocked out players returned to the pitch.

In the second half, the Kangaroos put up a stout defence, but eventually the Pharaohs broke through and were able to get a equalising TD. Undeterred and with plenty of time remaining, the Kangaroos made a strong push to get into scoring position. But a determined blitz from the Pharaohs knocked the ball free and despite getting into a position to pass for the winning TD, the Pharaohs were able to intercept the final pass on the siren and send the game into overtime.

In overtime the Kangaroos received first again, and with were able to start making a few hits count that saw the Pharaohs continue to be down on players as they didn’t recover from being knocked out in the second half.

The Pharaohs put up a dogged defence and harried the Kangaroos well which meant the Kangaroos couldn’t steal as long this half, and when they could see they couldn’t reliably mark all the Pharaohs players, they scored a go ahead TD.

Again the Pharaohs were down numbers as the knocked out players still didn’t return, and one bad catch attempt left the door ajar for the Kangaroos to pressure the ball. It wasn’t long before they had recovered the ball and scored a game sealing 3rd TD. With mere moments remaining in the game from that point, the Kangaroos just kept their distance from the Pharaohs to let the clock run out and finish with a tough 3-1 win.

Next up is another tough assignment for the Kangaroos, a veteran team in the form of the Hellpit Abominations in the semi final. A win will see them compete for the WCL championship.

Kangaroos are Rusty against Rams
The Old World Classic Kangaroos have suffered their first defeat of the season when they played the veteran team, the Rusty Rams.

The Kangaroos started off a little slowly despite recruiting the help of a Legendary Lineman Mercenary. And it proved costly for the Kangaroos almost immediately with 2 of their Blitzers being Knocked Out in the early stages and spending the rest of the first half off the pitch.

In spite of receiving, the Kangaroos could see early that their chances of holding the Rams at bay was going to be difficult, so they opted to try spread the Rams in hopes of dashing in for a TD.

With their numbers depleted further by their Dirty Player lineman getting sent off by the ref, it wasn’t long before the Kangaroos had the ball turned over. The Kangaroos were valiant in trying to stop the Rams from scoring, however they couldn’t stop the inevitable.

As the second half began, the Rams received and were able to steadily drive down the field, being in a power position and they scored again to lead 2-0.

With a quarter of the game remaining, the Kangaroos were determined to fight for a lead a draw and were able to get a quick TD in response to close the gap.

As the game was drawing to a close, the Kangaroos pushed to put themselves into a position that if they did turn the ball over, they may be able to score. But they ended up pushing a little too hard, falling over in exhaustion and ultimately destroying any chance they had to level up.

The Rams couldn’t find any further way to score, but had done enough to keep the Kangaroos at bay. The Kangaroos lost 2-1, but are all but assured of a finals position as they head into the last round of the regular season.

Kangaroos Dull the Fangs
The Old World Classic Kangaroos have shown their fortitude and determination in a tough match against the latest opponent, The Maimy Dull Fangs.

A decent crowd attend and despite being a long way from their traditional home stadium, the fan numbers were greatly in favour of the Kangaroos.

As the match started, it was the Kangaroos receiving and it was the crowd getting over zealous, creating a Pitch Invasion and stunning 3 of the Dull Fangs’ players. From here the Kangaroos were determined to push deep with the ball into the Dull Fangs’ half. It proved to be a mistake though as they were soon dispossessed of the ball and scrambling to stop the Dull Fangs themselves.

After a few turns of scrambling though, they were able to turn the ball back over and sprint away to score a TD, but just as they reached the end zone, they tripped over.

The Dull Fangs tried to scramble after the ball themselves, but they too tripped and the ball was left free for the Kangaroos to scoop up and finally get the opening TD.

With a little time remaining in the half, the Kangaroos were able to keep the Dull Fangs at bay and gave them no chance to level at halftime.

As the second half began, the Kangaroos were outnumbered slightly, but they were determined to make life difficult for the Dull Fangs and were keeping constant pressure on them, stopping them from making any clean break.

As the game was winding down, the Kangaroos were finally able to knock the ball free, but weren’t in the strongest position yet to keep the Dull Fangs from getting it, but one bad block from the Dull Fangs ruined their chances and the Kangaroos were again able to just keep the ball far enough away from their opponents to secure the win.

With 5 wins the Kangaroos are looking likely to have secured themselves a finals spot, but their biggest test will come next round as they verse a veteran team in the Rusty Rams.

Kangaroos create Dumpster fire.
The Old World Classic Kangaroos played their first of 2 consecutive high strength teams when they played the Lizardmen team, the Downtown Dumpster Dinos.

They Dinos came into the match a pretty much full strength whilst the Kangaroos were missing a Blitzer which would have been a handy addition to the team. Instead the Kangaroos looked towards a mercenary to help them out, in the form of a fouling Stunty Superstar.

With the teams on the pitch and ready to go, it was the Dinos who received first, but it was the Kangaroos that got the hop on their opponent and got the Blitz from the opening kickoff.

This allowed the Kangaroos to get right in the face of the Dinos and put the pressure on straight away, then from this point, they were able to show much more efficiency in their blocking and just kept that strangling pressure onto the Dinos.

As the first half progressed, the Dinos hoped they might force a small breakout as they just couldn’t keep the Kangaroos away long enough, just as they were about to make their break, they went for a dodge with the ball carrying Chameleon Skink, but completely forgot about him being marked by a player with tackle and soon fell over, dropping the ball into the waiting hands of a lineman from the Kangaroos.

Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, the Kangaroos sent the lineman dashing away and preparing to score his first ever TD. But with him in relative safety, the Kangaroos took their time and tried to remove a few of the Dino’s players from the pitch to make the second half a little easier. Whilst they managed to easily knock the Dinos down, they weren’t able to remove any, so once it was clear they couldn’t hold the Dinos at bay any longer, they scored and went into half time with the 1-0 lead.

The second half saw the Dinos come out determined and really put the pressure onto the Kangaroos and forced them into making a bit of a break for it themselves which left them in a bit of an insecure position. From this the Dinos were able to force a turnover and get the ball for themselves..

The Kangaroos recovered quickly though to put the pressure right back onto the Dinos and again, when the Dinos thought they might be able to make a little break, a failed dodge left them completely exposed and the Kangaroos were able get the ball back and again dash away. Helping the Kangaroos cause was some strong blocking and fouling which also removed a few Dinos from the pitch in the later stages and stopped their chances of stopping the Kangaroos.

The Kangaroos were able to score again on the full time siren and win the game 2-0. Next up for the Kangaroos is another high strength team in the form of The Maimy Dull Fangs where the team will look to continue on their pursuit of the finals.

Kangaroos bound over De Rata
The Old World Classic Kangaroos took on Hijos De Rata in their latest match. The Kangaroos were hoping to have earned enough money in their early matches to hire an Ogre, but had fallen just short which left them to face the newly hired Rat Ogre for De Rata with no big guy. But they did end up with some inducements out of it and decided a legendary lineman with guard and a fouling stunty superstar may help balance the scales.

The Kangaroos received first, but De Rata wanted to prove they were faster and Blitzed from the opening kick. The new Rat Ogre immediately got into the action, he didn’t hurt anyone though and soon found himself in position to be blocked himself and immediately injured.

With the big guy no longer a threat, the Kangaroos saw they had both a strength and numbers advantage and decided that the grind tactic was best at this stage.

As they slowly ground their way down the pitch they looked to get some throwing practice in, but the catching skills left something to be desired and it nearly gave De Rata a chance to get at the ball. Thankfully with a numbers advantage still, they were able to recover their own ball, but had put themselves in a position were the passing practice was no longer the viable option and instead just ran the ball in as the half time siren sounded.

In the second half, De Rata we’re down players still and tried for a quick score to level the game, however one Gutter Runner rushed too hard and tripped over his own tail, giving the Kangaroos the opportunity to get the ball themselves.

From here the Gutter Runner that tripped was Knocked Out by fouling and the Kangaroos were able to quickly and easily run down the sideline and score their second TD.

Now with just six players taking the field De Rata we’re more desperate to try get a TD and the Kangaroos were keen for a third. Both teams got themselves into potential positions to score, the Kangaroos aspirations to a hit when a Blitzer failed a block on the ball carrier and were completely shot when the Gutter Runners combined to dance around anyone in their way and score a consolation TD.

The Kangaroos won 2-1 and continue to push for a finals boirh in their maiden season.

Kangaroos deliver the Pain
The Old World Classic Kangaroos have come through their against the Pain Collectors managing to avoid as much pain as the anticipated to deliver and having dealt more pain than the Collectors would have anticipated.

The Kangaroos received first but were met with Solid Defence which hampered their initial stages of the drive as they had to take some more dubious blocks than anticipated. Undaunted and with a little daring, the Kangaroos carried on and worked for an opportunity that the Collectors may have not seen coming and successfully surfed a Chorf into the crowd to ease the pressure.

The Collectors were relentless though and pursued the Kangaroos as much as possible, again forcing the Kangaroos to have some guts and push the odds a little harder. And push they did, managing to break from from the pressure laid on by the Collectors before settling for the go ahead TD late in the first half.

In the second half, the Collectors found themselves constantly under pressure from the Kangaroos and at times, struggling for any relief to push the ball into an advantageous position.

It was a tense game of cat and mouse with the Kangaroos harrying the Collectors and then stoutly defending, but not making progress. This continued on until the final siren with the Kangaroos holding the Collectors at bay and suffering as many casualties as their opponent which was not anticipated by the Collectors.

Kangaroos won the match 1-0 and carried on with a successful start to their season.

Kangaroos break the Grinders
The Old World Classic Kangaroos have started off their inaugural season with a solid win over the Zharrduk organ Grinders.

The match started with some Cabalvision fan fare which is sure to help the coffers of the Kangaroos after it led to a bumper crowd. And with the Friendly Runesmiths helping out, Mal found a Rune of Courage was really helpful to help deal with the Bull Centaurs from the Grinders in the first half.

The Kangaroos received first and were surprised by some Solid Defence from the Grinders, but used it to their advantage and worked out a way to push one of the Blockers into the crowd, helping them to get an early numbers advantage.

The Grinders weren’t to be deterred though, and quickly held the Kangaroos up on the sideline, knocking the ball free a couple of times. Fortunately for the Kangaroos, the Grinders were unable to recover the ball, and the Kangaroos soon found a way out with the ball.

As the half drew to a close, the Kangaroos found themselves with plenty of free space and waited until just before the halftime siren before getting the 1-0 lead.

As the second half commenced, the Kangaroos had a handy numbers advantage, but quickly saw the numbers level out as the Grinders paid head to their name and ground a few Kangaroos off the pitch.

The Grinders started to push down towards a sideline and both teams were starting to get stretched out a bit thin. The Kangaroos knew then that if they were to push any advantage, it would need to be their speed.

With the ball being knocked free, but still beside some Grinders players, Alfie used all his skill to collect the ball and pass it to The Pearl in the hopes he would be able to make a break.

After a quick jump over a downed teammate, The Pearl made a little break, however was caught momentarily until some teammates were able to catch up with him and help him secure the ball again and race to the corner before he scored on the final siren.

The Kangaroos secured a 2-0 win to get off to a successful start to their campaign and will play the other Chaos Dwarf team in the league in their round 2 match, hoping to get a similarly impressive result.
